• An excellent place to start is the Gen Web site of your choice -- go to the Canada GenWeb to connect to provincial sites (including the Nova Scotia GenWeb site), the USGenWeb to connect to American sites, or the WorldGenWeb to connect to other countries all over the world.
  
• Society of Mayflower Descendants -- This is the main organization for Mayflower ancestry research. There is a Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants as well. If you can trace your family back to one the passengers on the Mayflower, you may be eligible to join the Society (you must be able to prove your line of descent). See their web sites for details on how to apply.
  
• Ancestry.com -- The Internet home of Ancestry, Inc., the publishers who brought us "The Source" (the catalog of the contents of the LDS Family History Centers). This is an interesting site, with many search options, but to get the most out of it, you really need to subscribe (about $6.95 per month). Subscription gets you access to EVERYTHING.

INTERNATIONAL QUERIES:

• Local Ireland's "Local Names" -- Irish site for logging queries about your Irish ancestors. Some of my family's query sites include COONEY and REDDY but there are many many others at the main Local Names site. Check it out -- you may get a response to your query.
  
• Electric Scotland -- Scottish site for all things Scottish, including query pages. Click here to sign on to the MacAlpine Query page. They've just started these rooms so there isn't much in them but it's a start. Note: I have a hard time getting onto the main Electric Scotland site so be patient if you keep timing out.
